Solomon Harris was born March 29, 1928, to Will and Lizzie Harris.

Solomon lived a full and joyful 88 years. He retired from St. James Catholic School where he served as the school janitor, and was loved by the students and faculty for years.

One of his many hobbies was fishing, but everyone knew his first love was working in his garden. He was so proud of his green thumb. Solomon loved to tell countless stories of him growing up to all who visited. He dearly loved his family and made sure to show off pictures of his children, grandchildren and other family members; no matter how many times you’ve seen them!

During the early morning hours of Thursday, October 5, 2017, Solomon fell asleep in death at Riverview Regional Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Diane Brown; grandson, Dexter Leonard; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Harris; loving brothers, Robert Harris, Author Harris; sisters, Ellen (Albert) Ash, Lillie Mae Jones and niece, Kathy Woody.

Solomon leaves his most cherished and loving memories to his daughter, Ester L. Lee; special sister-in-law, Emma Ruth Harris; eight grandchildren, LaSonya Stephens, Columbus, OH, Felicia Leonard, Dayton, OH; Julana Leonard, Sabrina (very special grandson in-law, Roderick) Sandridge, Stephanie Jackson, Rodney Jackson, Marty (Ava) Lee, all of Gadsden, AL; 22 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; nephews, Michael Harris of Arizona, Billy (Johnnie Mae) Harris, Gadsden, AL; nieces, Deborah Harris, Las Vegas, NV, Elaine Spearman, Rainbow City, AL, Jackie Harris, Anniston AL and, a host of many loving friends.

Our family would like to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Riverview Regional Medical Center for your tireless efforts. You are greatly appreciated.
