It is with our deepest sympathy, we announce the passing of Gwendolyn Delois (Cattling) Barkley, of Attalla, AL, who took her rest on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the age of 75. We ask that you keep her family and friends in your prayers during this difficult time.
Gwendolyn Delois Cattling Barkley was born September 25, 1948, to the parentage of Oscar James Cattling II and Addie Mae McCloud Cattling in Etowah County.
She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late T. P Walker at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Attalla.
She was educated at Norris High in the graduating class of 1967.
She wed the love of her life Felix Charlie Barkley on September 25, 1971.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; brother, Oscar James Cattling III; sisters, Linda Gail Baker, and Cynthia Marbury.
She was a very dedicated worker in the church. She worked in various auxiliaries throughout the church. She was employed at H.D. Lee for 33 years and worked in the cafeteria in the Gadsden City School System for many years. She also worked at Cracker Barrel Country Store for 30 years from which she retired. There have been several lives touched by her throughout the years.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, sister, Debra A. Cattling-Coleman; brother, Ivan X. (Michelee) Cattling, Sr; sister-in-law, Jackie Cattling; a host of nieces, nephews, great-great nieces and nephews; special niece, Sequoah Bradford; special cousins, Marva and Anthony Cylar, Pastor James Aaron (Bobo); special friends, Thelma Hardwick, Mary Ruth Hand, and Teresa Parker., and a great host of friends and family.
