Pauline Thames Obituary

Pauline was born on October 7, 1947, in Mobile Alabama to Clifton Thames and Hattie B. Daniels and raised by her grandmother Elver M. Davison, she was an esteemed seamstress who worked at Vanity Fair, Bobby Brooks, and with the historic Black-owned tailor, the late Mr.  Billy Parker of Parker Tailor Shop in Gadsden, on Third Street.
Pauline professed Christ at an early age and was a member of Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ.  She briefly moved her membership to Athens CME Church in East Gadsden but moved her membership back to Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ where she remained until her death.
Pauline moved to Baltimore, MD in 2018, to live with her goddaughter Omega Corinthia (David, Sr.) Johnson where she enjoyed fellowshipping with Praise Power Fellowship Ministries with Apostle David King Johnson Sr. and being “grandma” to Heaven Nevaeh, Josiah King, David King Jr., and Elijah King Johnson.
Pauline enjoyed cooking and sewing and watching Auburn football.  She loved her family and made efforts to stay in touch with them.  A week before her passing, she called her aunt in Detroit and siblings jovial about plans to return to the warm weather in Alabama.  She was in good spirits and laughing and upbeat not knowing that God was preparing to call her home.  After being in and out of the hospital the past year, she departed this life peaceably Saturday, morning March 9, 2024, from pneumonia.
Pauline was preceded by death by her parents, Clifton Thames and Hattie Daniels; grandmother Elver M. Davison; sister, Violet C. Harvey; brothers, Caesar Coston, Samuel Coston, and Woodrow Coston.
Pauline leaves to cherish her memories her sisters, Betty Armstong, Berkeley, CA, and Ida Busby, Chickasaw, AL; adopted mother, Queenie Sconiers, Gadsden AL; siblings, Linda Williams, Detroit MI, Robert Williams, Chiefland, FL, Columbus Isaac Jr., Gadsden, AL, Katie Hawkins, Gadsden, AL, Cynthia Williams, Gadsden, AL, Omega Williams, Gadsden, AL; one aunt, Thelma Franklin, Detroit, MI; two goddaughters, Elva Brown, Frisco City, AL and Corinthia (David Sr.) Johnson, Baltimore, MD, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
