Music by The Piano Brothers

Kelvin Bernard Bradford, affectionately known as “Big Man”, was the youngest son born to the parentage of Eugene and Geraldine Bradford on April 12, 1970.

Kelvin attended Hall’s Kindergarten and St. Martin Deporres School. He completed his high school education graduating from Gadsden High School with the class of 1988. Big Man continued his education attending Alabama Agricultural & Mechanical University, where he received his BA in Telecommunications in 1994.

In the spring of 1990 during his sophomore year at Alabama A&M, Kelvin was initiated into the Gamma Phi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, with 23 other young men known as “The Supreme Team.”

Not long after graduating, he returned to A&M to serve as a dorm counselor for a period of time. Big man was well loved and appreciated by his fraternity brothers that knew him - by name and reputation. Many fraternity members over the years would travel to visit him in Gadsden to receive fraternal history and instructions.

Kelvin held numerous jobs within the state. They stretched from Gadsden to  Huntsville and Jacksonville to Talladega; the majority of them were in the educational field. Because of this he was able to network with a number of different people and became a positive influence in their lives.

At an early age, Kelvin joined Galilee Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Dr. G.E. Robinson. He was known as a jack of all trades, inheriting his father’s ability to do any and all handywork asked of him.

Kelvin was preceded in death by his father; his brother, Markel Orlando Bradford, Sr.; his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Lee and Elnora Carlisle and Mr. & Mrs. Eugene and Bonnie Bradford, Sr.

Kelvin leaves loving memories that will forever be cherished by his loving companion, Julana; sons, Rashad, Raynard, Kelvin, Jr., James, Austun; daughter, Alona; special son, Rashad; his mother, Geraldine; sisters, Audrey, Heather; sister-in-law, Stephanie; very special friend, Deidra Williams; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Celebration of Life will be 12 Noon Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Galilee Baptist Church, Rev. G. E. Robinson, Sr., officiating. Interment will follow at Lincoln Hill Cemetery.

To the Bradford family, Words can’t express how deeply saddened I am to hear of Kevin’s passing. Kevin and I came to Alabama A&M many years ago together. He was a kind and gentle person with a kind spirit. May Gods grace and mercy be with the Bradford family. May God give you and your family strength during this difficult time. “Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can’t heal”. #AAMU Bulldogs for life.
