Curtis Timmons was born on July 5, 1949 in Gadsden, Alabama to the union of the late Darney Zell Timmons and Lucille M. McComb.

Curtis graduated from Carver High School in 1969 and took courses in construction and technology to enhance his skills.

Curtis felt that it was his responsibility to serve his country. In doing so he spent time in Korea, Germany and a number of other countries, serving in the military. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1972.

During his employment with the Anniston Army Depot, he traveled extensively stateside and to the Persian Gulf. After forty years with the military and the Anniston depot as a contractor, he retired in 2009.

Retirement afforded him the time to bond with his precious granddaughter, Sha’Maine.  She had security and love from her Paw-Paw that most kids only dream of. He loved Sha’Maine (Poo-Poo) unconditionally.

He confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined Bethlehem Baptist Church. After marrying the love of his life, Eva Adkins, he joined St. John C.M.E Church and remained a faithful member until the Lord called him home. During the forty years that he worshipped at St. John C.M.E., he held many positions, Steward Trustee, Usher-Treasurer, Missionary Society-Lay Leader, Methodist Men and all choirs.

Curtis had a strong presence in the community. He was a member of the SCLC, NAACP, Carver Revitalization Committee and the American Legion Post 322.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ezell, Percy, Edward, Derrick Timmons; sisters, Dorothy Timmons, Emmertrius Jackson, all of Gadsden, Alabama and all of his maternal and parental aunts and uncles of Huntsville, Alabama.

He departed this life on Friday, January 25, 2019 at St. Vincent's East in Birmingham, Alabama.

Curtis leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Eva; two devoted children, Taneshia and Curtis, Jr.; a loving granddaughter, Sha’Maine Harris; a loving and caring Goddaughter, Dannika (DeMarcus) Rogers; a stepmother, Mrs. Willie Mae Timmons; four brothers, Freddie (Lucille) Timmons, Charles (Linda Gail) Timmons, Ollie (Priscilla) Timmons, James (Ella) Timmons; two sisters, Shirley (Jim) Dates, Darlene Taylor; sisters-in-law, Johnnie Timmons, Annie Timmons, Rose (Tim) Rancher, Mildred (Joel) Howell, Louise Westfield, Paige (David) Burnett, Thelma Adkins; brother-in-law, Stanley (Jackie) Adkins, a  host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear Friends.

Celebration of Life is 12 noon, Thursday, January 31, 2019 at St. John Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. Visitation with the family will be from 11a.m. to 12noon at St. John C.M.E. Internment following at Crestwood Cemetery.
