With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the passing of Mr. Robert Lewis Gamble, who transitioned from this walk of life Saturday, August 22, 2020 at the age of 75.

Robert Lewis Gamble was born March 20, 1945 in Talladega County, Alabama to the late Noble and Bertha Blanche Morris Gamble, Sr. He attended Carver High School in Gadsden, Alabama.

After high school, Robert enlisted in the United States Army from Detroit, Michigan. He served during the Vietnam War and thankfully he was one that was able to return back to his family. Upon his return, he began working for Chrysler in Detroit. More than anything, Robert was a businessman venturing off into many endeavors. Even when he returned back to Gadsden, his entrepreneurial spirit continued on with Gamble's Palace on Tuscaloosa Avenue.

Robert enjoyed bowling and was active in the bowling league with the Harper Mixed. He was a jokester and believed in having a good time and this was normally done with some good soul food cooking and grilling involved. He was an awesome cook. You could always depend on a good laugh from his unforgettable sense of humor with a welcome mat laid out and an open invitation.

Robert confessed Christ thru his son, Minister Stephen Sylvester. He reassured his family on his death bed that Jesus was his Lord and Savior. “Big Rob” “Unc Rob” or just "Rob" was a loving, caring and compassionate man who lived his life centered around his grandkids and family. He would respectfully say, “Heaven to me is here on Earth with my grandkids and family.”

“Big Rob” traded time for eternity on Saturday, August 22, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Noble Gamble, Sr., Bertha Morris Gamble-Leverett; step-father, George A. Leverett; brothers, Noble Gamble, Jr., Arthur Lee Gamble and sister-in-law, Ella Gamble.

Those left to cherish his many fond memories are his children, Robert Treadwell, Stephen Sylvester, Shaquil Gamble, Rodney Edwards, Henry Jackson, all of Gadsden, AL, Antonio (Tasia) Betton, Savannah, GA, Andrea Johnson, Detroit, MI; grandchildren, Shanice King, North Carolina, Laynce Sanders, Missouri, Lashundra, Robin, Robert, Kani Treadwell, Jalyn Brewster, Kerry Jackson, Jestevia Sylvester, TJ Townsend, Dynasia Riddle, Darrien (Latoya) Sears, all of Gadsden, AL, Deaundre and Darrion Betton, Savannah, GA, Dawnielle Johnson, Dawnmonique Ramsey, Detroit, MI; great-grandchildren, Layla, Nylah, Nariyah, Jakari, Javonna, Loni, Leah and Landon; step-sister, Chris Leverett; special daughters, Trena Flambo and Angela Sears; a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, buddies from “the spot” and other friends too numerous to name.

Celebration of Life will be 1:00p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2020 at the Etowah Chapel of Adams-Buggs Funeral Service with Rev. Dr. John M. Woods, Officiating, Bro. Stephen Sylvester, Eulogist. Interment will follow at Lincoln Hill Cemetery. Viewing and visitation will be 4:00-6:00p.m. Friday. August 28, 2020 at the Etowah Chapel of Adams-Buggs Funeral Service.
