Music by The Piano Brothers

With heartfelt sympathy we announce the passing of Felecia Y. Rice of Gadsden, who transitioned from labor to reward on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the age of 62.

Felecia Yolanda Davis Rice graced the earth with her presence on Dec 24,1958. The third daughter born to the late Reverend Willie Gene and Rosie Mae Davis, her gentle spirit was notable, even as a child. She was educated in the Gadsden City School system, graduated from Gadsden High School in 1977, and received an associate degree in telecommunications at Gadsden State Technical College. She married the love of her life, Scottie Lee Rice, in 1977 and began a 43 year journey as a loving and devoted wife and mother.

As the daughter of a pastor, Felecia was no stranger to working in the church. She became a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church under the leadership of her father. After her husband was called to the ministry, she easily transitioned into the graceful and faithful First Lady of the Pine Grove Baptist Church, Lincoln, Alabama; and then to the Fellowship Baptist Church, Gadsden, Alabama. To Felecia, being a First Lady was about service. She was the founder and proud member of the Ties That Bind - Golden Praise Dance Ministry, founder and teacher of the Morning Glory Bible Study, head of the Fellowship Women’s Ministry, founder and director of the Willie Gene Davis youth choir. She loved to sing in the choir, was a Sunday school teacher, and found joy and solace in playing the piano. Felecia might best be described as a quiet storm. If asked to speak at a program, she was always so nervous; but, when she was before the audience, she allowed the Holy Spirit to take charge and became a powerhouse for the Lord! She was a decorator and a seamstress; she provided wise counsel and was an encourager. She was a good listener, humble, and noble - a friend to all and loved by all. Felecia was nothing short of a virtuous warrior.

Felecia gained her heavenly wings on January 28, 2021. Her legacy will live on through her loving husband, Pastor Scottie Rice, her four children, Valencia (Lloyd) Scott of Lorton, Virginia, Kimberly (David) Pointer of Gadsden, Alabama, Vanico Scott (Leah) Rice, McCalla, Alabama, and Willvanico (Wendy) Rice of Pelham, Alabama; her grandchildren, Treviell, Cornedra, Lauryn, Summer, David, Tamera, Denzell, Alexander, Austin, and Kaiden, and honorary grandson, Marjayvion; she also loved her great-grandchildren, Cali, Cani, Vaidyn, and Kendryx. She will be forever cherished by her siblings, Craig (Diann) Davis of Columbia, South Carolina, Marcella (Sam) Jones of Gadsden, Alabama, Rev. Darrell (Renita) Davis of Gadsden, Alabama, Theodarsia Kinnice (Kenneth) Baker of Columbia, South Carolina, Willie Gene (Sama) Davis Jr. of Johnston, Iowa,  Delcena Taylor of Gadsden, Alabama, and Ives (Marilyn) Davis of Lincoln, Alabama, and preceded in death by her sister, Mary Jean Slaughter. This special angel will be sorely missed by her aunts Ruby Byrd of Bradenton, Florida and Helen Clark of Sarasota, Florida, and will forever have a special place in the hearts of her nieces, nephews, cousins, special sister, Ann Davis, and best friends, Betty Kirby, Elsie Cooks, Taylor Mae Dupree, and Dorothy Byers. Additionally, she will be missed by her Fellowship and Pine Grove church families and everyone who had the honor and pleasure of knowing her.
