Myretha Elector "Sister" Shropshire was born on April 19, 1952 in Gadsden, Alabama to late Artie Frank and Marie Goldsby Shropshire.

Myretha attended school at St. Martin de Porres Catholic School and from there went on to Wagner, where she received a Special Education Diploma.

Myretha was loved and admired by many in her lifetime. She was a lifelong resident of Gadsden and a dedicated member of CrossPoint Community Church for 15 years.

"Sister" enjoyed working at the Darden Rehabilitation Center for many years until she became ill and unable to work.

"Sister" had a passion for the simple things in life: puzzles, coloring, bowling, and going to the Saddlevlub Rodeo each year. Perhaps her greatest passion was watching endless episodes of old TV Shows and movies.

"Sister" was a fun person who loved life and her church family more than life itself. She was a sister, an aunt, a christian, and an avid collector of many things. After an extended illness, "Sister" departed her earthly life on Wednesday, April 18, 2012.

She is survived by her sister: Rose (Tim) Rancher, Gadsden, AL; two brothers: Ed (Pat) Shropshire), Smyna, GA, Samuel (Regina) Shropshire, Helena, AL.; 3 mieces; two nephews; six great nieces; three great nephews; and aunt, cousins and a host of other family that loved her, church members who adored her, and friends that will surely miss her. Special friends include: Mrs. Diane Clark, Pastor Bruce Word, Joe and Debbie Pullen, Sammy Penn and Becky Gilley.

A special thanks to Amedisysis Hospice, Dr. Alvarez and staff of UAB Oncology Center, CrossPoint Community Church family, New Destiny Christian Church family, Mrs. Lanetta Bell, Wanda Lindsey, Rose King and all too numerous to name who showed their acts of love and sympathy during the families time of bereavement.

Celebration of Life will be 1:00pm Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at CrossPoint Community Church, Pastor Bruce Word, officiating, burial in Lincoln Hill Memorial Park.

Family hour will be 6-7pm Monday, April 23, 2012 at the funeral home.
