Mr. Nathan Harris Graham

The life of Mr. Nathan Harris Graham began June 28, 1935 in Coosa County, Alabama. He was born to the union of Harris Graham and Lavada (Vadie) Kennedy Graham.

One of his proudest accomplishments was retiring from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company with 37 years of service in 1994.  Some of his other accomplishments were receiving an honorable discharge from the United States Army in 1955, becoming a member of the George Washington Carver American Legion Post #322 and the Elks Lodge, becoming a Mason, and being a faithful member of Mount Zion Full Baptist Church; where he served in any capacity that he could.

He was a die-hard Alabama “Roll-Tide” and Atlanta Braves Fan, and liked NASCAR when it was at Talladega.

He supported many worthy causes including J.W. Stewart Head Start, Coach Ronald Dra Graham Scholarship Fund, and the American Cancer Society.  He received a lot of joy from being able to help others and was just happy to receive a newspaper, cup of coffee, and help pumping gas.  He had a great sense of humor (at least we think it was humor).

Beloved family members that preceded him in death were his parents, Harris Graham and Vadie Kennedy Graham, his son, Coach Ronald Dra Graham, and a grandson, Lamonthe Bradford, II.

He leaves to cherish his wife of 38 years, Sandra Gail Graham; two daughters, Michele Graham Bradford, Celeste Graham Dunigan; a sister; Helen Woods, Youngstown, Ohio; five grandchildren; Johnathan (Stephanie) Graham, Savannah, GA, Jona Graham, Montgomery, AL, Sgt. Jena Graham, Fort Seal, OK, Joycelyn Adair Bradford, and Langston Dunigan; daughter-in-law, Debra Porter Graham, Buena Vista, GA; great-grandchildren, J’ona Graham, Kelvin Kendrick, Jr., Quincy Harris Graham, Isabella Graham, and Lauren Graham; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends; good friends, Tommy Hicks, Felton (PT) Parker, Closlen (Dent) McGee, Clarence Horton, and P.G. Stephens.

The family extends special thanks to the 9th floor and CCU staff at Gadsden Regional Medical Center, the ICU staff at Riverview Regional Medical Center, Alacare, and Dr. Webb Sledge and Staff.

Celebration of Life will be 2:00p.m. at Mt. Zion Full Gospel Church, Pastor Harold Kimble, officiating, burial in Lincoln Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5-7p.m. Tuesday at Antioch United Methodist Church, Attalla.

Nate as Coach and I called him and Dad at times. He was the love of our life. He had a sense of humor with love attached. He will always have a special place in my heart as Dad. To Gail, Michelle and Celeste pray for strength because Nate was a great man. I will miss his laughter and always giving to make you happy during the holidays. Aunt Helen, his sister was his joy and love. We will all have great memories that we will cherish and get us through the loss of our beloved Nate. Stay in prayer and stretch your hands out to the Lord and I guarantee he will be with you. We loved Nate and Coach, but they were both great men and this is how we are going to go forward with all the wonderful memories. I Love you all as my family. Debra

I would like to extend my sincerest condolences to Mr. Graham's entire family. I am a physical therapist at Healthsouth, and had the immense pleasure or treating Nathan Harris, as I liked to call him, several times. He always brought such life and laughter to our facility, and we would fight over who got to treat him. He will be greatly missed.

Dear Family, I am so very sorry about the loss of your dear loved one. May the thought at Job 33:25 give you comfort in knowing that Mr. Graham will return to the days of his youth and be able to enjoy life without the infirmities of old age. My sincere condolences to you.
