Jerry Lavourn Stamps was born March 4, 1961 in Gadsden, Alabama to the union of Jack and Marie Brewster Stamps.
Jerry confessed Christ at a young age at Sweet Home United Methodist Church, where he continued to be a faithful member throughout his life.
He was educated in the Gadsden City School System and the Gadsden State Community College.
Jerry was employed many years at the poultry plant. He was known for his hard labor inside and outside of his regular occupation as he could be found many days scraping metal, cleaning up cars, cutting grass and collecting antiques. Most of all Jerry was known for being a good friend to everyone he knew.
On October 15, 1999, Jerry united in holy matrimony to Deborah Ruffin.
Jerry departed this earthly life to join his father, mother, brothers, Johnny and Joseph Stamps on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the UAB Hosptial Birmingham.
Jerry leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife Deborah Stamps; three step-daughters, Vanessa Ruffin, Amy Loyd, Brandi Loyd; 9 step-grandchildren;two sisters, Jacqueline (Terry) Dandridge, all of Gadsden, AL, Gloria Jean Stamps, Port Chester, NY; two special nieces, Tanisha (Broderick) Lewis, April Stamps; brother-in-law, Bobby Ruffin; two sisters-in-law, Lee Cornish, all of Gadsden, AL Elesia (Lamont) Evans, Modesta, CA; special friends, David Posey, Greg Scruggs; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
