Finous ‘C’ Glass was born in Cherokee County on October 16, 1933 to the parentage of the late Homer and Lottie Finley Cowser.

She attended school at Maple Grove Colored School in the Pollards Bend Community. She later received her GED by attending night school.

“C” dedicated her life to Christ at an early age at Providence Baptist Church. Until her health began to fail, she was a faithful member of the Senior Missionary Society.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. Samuel Thomas Glass on September 30, 1952 and to this union, four children were born. She worked for the Centre Manufacturing Company as a seamstress for 20 plus years, until she retired to work for her church and community.

“Granny” as she was affectionately known to everyone has left a legacy to be seen for generations to come with her gardening skills and her beautiful flower blossoms. There was always an abundance of vegetables growing seasonally in her vegetable garden and she had no problem sharing them, therefore providing meals for her extended family. The memories from the “ ‘C’ Community Garden” will forever live in the hearts and kitchen of those she served.

Mrs. Finous ‘C’ Glass answered God’s call and went home to rest on June 13, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Samuel Thomas Glass; son, Kenneth “PeeWee” Glass; daughter, Patricia Jean Myles and granddaughter, Vanessa Jeanne Myles.

Finous leaves her many cherished memories and life lessons to her daughter, Sammie Kay (Rennie) McCreary, Leesburg, AL; son, Kim Harris (Regina) Glass, Birmingham, AL; son-in-law, Edward Myles, Birmingham, AL; adopted sons, Charles Edward McElrath, Larry Andrews, Rev. Sam Fife; nine grandchildren, Sgt. Errica Dupree, Sgt. Edward (Yolanda) Myles, Jr., Shannon Stubbs, Shenetha Stubbs, Makeila Glass-McCants, Shaunta Stubbs, Devin Glass, April Nicole Myles, Harrison Glass; sixteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Fohy Landrom, Leesburg, AL, Billie Pearl (George) Drake, Thompson, GA; special cousin, Ethel Allen and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
