On August 1, 1913, Mable Duckett Smith was born in Alexandria, Alabama to Mr. James Duckett and Mrs. Emma Melton.
Mable Smith came to know the Lord at an early age and was a member of the Mt Zion Baptist Church in Attalla, Alabama under the leadership of Rev T.P. Walker.
She married Hiawatha Smith and from this union, they raised nine children, James Stredrick (Helen), Hiawatha Smith, Jr. (Alma), Kathryn Evans (Eugene), Jimmie Smith, Delois Allen (John), Michael Smith, Minister James Smith (Cynthia), James Albert Smith and Albert Smith, Jr.
She worked for a number of years as a housekeeper and as a cook at the Attalla Golf Course in Alabama. She retired and later moved to Houston, Texas in 1976. In the 80's, she joined the Garden of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. R. E. Daniels. Mable was a faithful member for many years until her health failed.
Sis. Mable was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, eight siblings, and four children. She leaves to morn her passing, her children, Hiawatha Smith, Jr. (Alma), Kathryn Evans (Eugene), Jimmie Smith, Delois Allen (John), Minister James Smith (Cynthia),17 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, 41 great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends
