Anthony B. Knowles was born April 5, 1928 to the union of Ward and Claudia Jackson Knowles in Gadsden, Alabama.

Anthony accepted Christ at an early age, and was a long time member of Galilee Baptist Church.

Mr. Knowles was a very accomplished man. He served in the United States Air Force, and fought in the Korean War. Mr. Knowles served our country until he was honorably discharged, due to physical disability. However Anthony didn’t stop there! He went on to further his education, at Tennessee State University, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. He also attended Eastern Michigan University, where he obtained a Masters degree in Educational Administration. Later in life he attended Gadsden State Community College where he received a trade in small auto repair, and gardening.

After Anthony received his Masters in education; he began his career with the Gadsden City School System. He worked at James L. Cain, and L. V Johnson Elementary Schools as a teacher. After several years of teaching Mr. Knowles was blessed with the opportunity to be principle at Joseph F. Drake ,Floyd, and Jessie Dean Smith Elementary, where he later retired.

On Sunday, May 13, 2018, Anthony departed this earthly life .He was proceeded in death by his parents Ward and Claudia Jackson Knowles, three brothers; Jay Knowles, Herbert Knowles, and Robert Knowles. Ethel Holley-Knowles, also proceeded him in death. Mr. Anthony B. Knowles leaves to cherish his memories, and carry on his legacy one son; Algernon Knowles, Tampa FL, one daughter; Antoinette K. Coleman, Middleton ,OH :three granddaughters; Adrian Knowles Houston, TX, Alana Knowles, Tampa, FL, Alisha Coleman, Middletown, OH; two great granddaughters, Alayah and Auri Browning; one great grandson, Anthony Browning all of Middletown, OH;one half sister; Vickie Hall ,Nashville. TN two stepdaughters; DeAngela Holley, Katrenna Holley both of Detriot, MI, a host of neices, nephews and cousins.

Celebration of Life Service for Anthony B. Knowles is 1:00pm, Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Galilee Baptist Church-Gadsden, Reverend Dr G. E. Robison , Eulogist. Interment at Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo, AL , on Tuesday, May 29,2018.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy to your family for the loss of your loved one. The loss of someone in death can be a very difficult time for families. Grief is a feeling that everyone deals with it in their own way. Jesus reacted to the death of his friend Lazarus even though he had the power to bring him back to life. (John 11:33-35) By resurrecting Lazarus and others Jesus demonstrated on a small scale what he will do as the King of God’s Kingdom worldwide in fulfillment of Jehovah’s promise at Revelation 21:3-5.
