Reginald S. Worthy, Sr., 65 of Attalla, passed on Friday, August 3, 2018. He is survived by his family. Celebration of Life Service is 11:00a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Antioch-Goodsell in Attalla, Interment following at Oak Hill Cemetery, Attalla, Alabama.

Mr. Reginald Stephen Worthy, Sr.

Reginald Stephen Worthy was born October 6, 1953 to the late Eugene and Inez Lynch Worthy in Attalla, Etowah County, Alabama.

Reginald accepted Christ at an early age, uniting with Antioch United Methodist Church of Attalla.

Reginald obtained his education in the Attalla City School System, attending Norris High School in Attalla, Alabama.

Reginald worked for the City of Attalla for over 25 years before retiring. Because he could not find solace in retirement, he worked building homes for Stone Construction for another seven years.

Once Reginald officially retired from punching the clock, he found a way to enjoy some of his favorite pastimes-fishing, hunting, keeping his yard in pristine condition-enjoying his children and grandchildren as often as he could.

Among other certainties Reginald would not compromise with was the fact that he was a  true “Auburn Tiger”; the other was his music and his  radio was not to be messed with-and everyone knew it.

Reginald was preceded in death by his parents, Inez and Eugene Worthy; sister, Emma Jean; one brother, Tommy Worthy and one niece, Yvonne Worthy.

Reginald leaves those to cherish his many memories, his companion and best friend of eleven years, Carolyn Childs; four sons, Reginald (Stacy) Worthy, Jr., Powder Springs, GA, Kevin (Lindsey) Worthy, Iowa City, IA, Micheal Palmore, Michael Vines, both of Gadsden, AL; one daughter, Keisha Butler, Gadsden, AL; eight grandchildren, Kylie Dobbins, Jalen Palmore, Riley Worthy, Roman Worthy, Alijah Worthy, Tay Butler, Foranya Morris, TaKerya Butler; two great grandchildren; two brothers, David Jackson “Hobo”, Childersburg, AL, Paul (Cheryl) Williams, Attalla, AL; two sisters, Josephine Harden, Fahn Griffie, both of Gadsden, AL; aunts, Melinda Worthy Jackson(Ray), Elinor Worthy Duke, both of Gadsden, AL; one uncle, Frank Kelly of New York and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.

At the end of each life is a legacy of love and memories. Hold tight to those memories…. Lean on each other for support. And look to God’s Word, the Bible, for comfort and strength. 1 Peter 5:7 encourages; “Throw all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.”
