Imogene Guice Montgomery, 84, Ashville, died, Friday, November 2, 2018.

She is survived by her family.

Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, burial in Ashville Cemetery.

Mother-someone who will love you unconditionally, until her last breath

Imogene Johnson was born June 19, 1934 to the parentage of James and Mary (Guice) Johnson.

During her adolescent years, she was nurtured by her grandparents, Reese and Annie Guice, in Dadeville, Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Later in life, she moved to Gadsden, Alabama with her extended family.

Imogene confessed Christ at an early age at Bethlehem Baptist Church. She later became a member of Sweet Home United Methodist Church before moving to Ashville, Alabama where she made St. Paul United Methodist Church her place of worship. She continued to serve as a stewardess until her health declined.

Imogene matriculated O. B. Burton School and graduated from Carver High School. Shortly after high school, she was determined to provide for her family by pursuing an educational opportunity as a pathology technician.

Imogene married the love of her life, the late Joe Montgomery, Jr., a dedicated and faithful husband. Together they nurtured their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Imogene was also a great foster parent to numerous children needing a home.

Imogene was dedicated in her civic duties to her community by always volunteering at the voting poll, and urging her family and others around her to volunteer and lend a helping hand.

Imogene was employed with a successful career at Gadsden Pathological until her retirement.

Imogene was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Montgomery, Jr.; parents, Mary and James Johnson; brother, Guice Johnson; sister, Ethel McNeal; grandparents, Reese and Annie Guice; aunts, Irene, Illene, Lena, Iwilter; uncles, Willie, John T., Eucleus, Reese Guice, Jr.; grandson, Rayshun Bothwell and a special cousin, Jimmie Ruth Simmons.

Imogene leaves to cherish her memories, daughters, Sylvia Ann Cook Williams, Stephanie Guice Brown, Teresa (Marcus) Chatman; God sent sons, Eugene Williams, Benny Albert Mostella, Pastor Charles Dobbins; grandsons, LaShun Cook, Claude Williams, Jr.; granddaughters, Breauna Bothwell and Keyauna (Marlin) Quinn; great-grandchildren, Keyuna Looney, Keyallen Looney, Brandon Bothwell, Isaiah Quinn, Anthony Bothwell, Siera Bothwell, and Cameron Bothwell.

Imogene was loved by many, especially her nieces, nephews, cousins, Dollicia, Jerome, Darryl, Shelia, Lori, Leon, Calvin, Otis, Leronza, Jr., Norman, Perry, Demetria, Elizabeth, James, Patsy, Roberta, Shirley, Temetria, Alice, Chyvonne, Wilbert, Nanny and Evan.
