James Terry Covington Sr., affectionately known as JT, was born in Cherokee County, Alabama to his loving parents L.C. and Josephine Covington.


JT received his formal education in the Hatcher City school system, graduating with the Hatcher High School Class, of 1969. For 32 years he was a dedicated and devoted worker at Good Year Tire and Rubber Company


JT gave his life to Christ, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, where he remained a member until his passing.  


In 2001, after a peaceful illness, the name “King James” was bestowed on him by Tyrone Moore. He made such an impact on everyone that he came in contact with.


On March 10, 2019, JT made his transition from this earthly life into eternal rest. Awaiting his arrival are his parents; grandparents ; sisters, Mary Glass, Dorothy Austin, Johnnie Rodent; brothers, Clyde Covington, and Charles Covington.


He leaves to cherish his memories to his loving and devoted wife, Jessema Covington; his children, Laretha (Mike) Lampkin, Prattsville, AL, Felicia Covington, Ball Play, AL, Dalana (Lee) Abercombie, Steele , AL, Rosella (James) Miller, Cedar Bluff, AL, Reginald (Jenn) Jones, Cedar Bluff, AL, James T. Covington, Jr., Cedar Bluff, AL.; 11 loving grandchildren; brothers, Joe Covington, Cincinnati, OH, Jesse Covington, Rome, GA, Ivory Covington, Centre, AL, Gary (Sharon) Covington, Farrill, GA, Leonard Covington, Centre, AL; sisters-in-law, Dale Penn, Cedar Bluff, AL, Stella Moore, Cedar Bluff, AL, Bonnie Spivey, Coosa, GA, Zola Johnson, Summerville, GA, Janie Harris, Summerville, GA, Brothers-in-law, Johnny Mac (Dore) Moore, Summerville, GA, Felix (Brenda) Moore, Cedar Bluff, AL, Richard (Carol) Moore, Cedar Bluff, AL; Godson, Gary Moore, Cedar Bluff, AL; a host of relatives and dear friends.
