Maple Lee Daniel was born April 5, 1920 in Orville Browns Community, Dallas County, Alabama to the parentage of John Henry and Sallie Bell Daniel. Her formal education was received in the County of her birth.

At the age of 17, she was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to the love of her life, Perry Holmes Irby. Their union was blessed with eight children. She was an industrious and hard working woman.  She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing beautiful garments by hand. She was an excellent cook; her buttermilk pies and sock it to me cakes were beyond compare. Hers was the gathering place for all the neighborhood children. If they were hungry, they always found a satisfying meal. In addition to all of this, she also worked outside of the home. For a number of years, she worked as a cook at Republic Steel , then move on to the Gadsden City School as a cook in the school cafeteria, from which she retired after some thirty-two years of service.

Mrs. Irby always had a garden in the back yard of her home., and grew the most gorgeous of flowers. In fact her yard work won her the City of Attalla Beautification award. She represented six generations of the Irby Family. Her grands called her “The best Granny in town”.

Her busy life came to an end on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Riverview Regional Medical Center, following a sudden illness at the age of 99. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Robert Lee and her siblings.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Julia (Richard) Pearsall, Cheraw, SC, Perry Irby, MI, Miller (Jessie) Whiteside, Ridgeville, AL, John Daniel “J.D.” Irby, Gadsden, AL, Doris Williams, Columbia, SC,  Shirley (Robert) Glasby, Jr., Attalla, AL, Benjamin (Joyce) Irby, Lorenzo (Lisa) Pearsall, both of Gadsden, AL; four generations of grandchildren; extended family, Donnie and Josetta McCray, Cheraw, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation with the family will be 6:00-7:00p.m. Friday, January 24, 2020 at the Etowah Chapel of Adams-Buggs Funeral Service. Graveside Service will be 11:00a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Oaklawn Cemetery.

Dear family I’m so sorry for the loss of your dear one. I pray the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) Jehovah (Psalms 83:18) will help you at this difficult time. Jesus taught us to pray for God’s Kingdom to come because He knew this government will be able to solve all mankind’s problems even death. (Revelation 21:4,5). 21

My dear granny, I miss you so much already. Words will never express the deepest pain in my heart. I’m so very grateful to Jehovah I had the privilege of spending time with you and oh boy it was some wonderful times. You are at peace now granny because you are asleep for now. Jehovah knows your heart condition so hopefully I will work hard to see you in the coming resurrection that Jehovah God promises us. I love you so much my sweet granny. You will never be forgotten by your granddaughter.

(2 Corinthians 1:3,4) Jehovah (Psalms 83:18) will help you endure during this difficult time. Jesus prayed for God’s Kingdom to come and His will to be done on Earth as it is in Heaven because He knew it would be able to solve all mankind’s problems even death. (Revelation 21:4,5).
