Polly Jean "Pie" Coleman Howze was born September 25, 1946 in Gadsden, Etowah County, Alabama to the late Jessie Coleman, Sr. and Willie Catherine Teague Coleman Tripp.

Polly was received her formal education in the Gadsden City School. She was baptized at an early age at Union Baptist Church and later joined United Christian Church under the leadership of the late Apostle Maurice Wright. She served faithfully in the culinary ministry at the church and her chicken tetrazzini was her most requested dish,

Polly was known in the community and through the neighborhood as the “Cupsicle Lady”. She served others in the neighborhood through Manna Meals on Wheels.

Polly departed her earthly home on Wednesday, April 8, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie A. Howze; brothers, Jessie "BayRay" Coleman, Jr., Richard Coleman; great-grandson, J’Hayden Micheal Black.

Memories are left to be cherished by her daughter, LaTisa Coleman, Gadsden, AL, Paul (Carrie) Coleman, Houston, TX, Timothy (Sandress) Coleman, Michael (Latrece) Coleman, all of Gadsden, AL; sisters, Eleanor Cox, Bernice Coleman, Gwendolyn (Larry) Hill, Jessica K. Coleman, all of Gadsden, AL; brothers, James Coleman, Youngstown, OH, Robert Coleman, Birmingham, AL, Ray (Annette) Coleman, Willie (Dorothy) Coleman, all of Gadsden, AL, Randall Coleman, Birmingham, AL; step children, Theresa (Otis) Dupree, Franklin (Kiona) Howze, Tommy (Davina) Howze, all of Gadsden, AL; special friends, Annie Guyton, Betty Kirby, Peggy Maddox, Ruth Gibson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, Church family and friends.  

Celebration of Life will be 11:00a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2020 at the Etowah Chapel of Adams-Buggs Funeral Service, Pastor Kabraila Wright-Gray, Pastor, Elder Marshall Rowe, officiating. Interment will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be 3:00-5:00p.m. Friday, April 17, 2020 at the Etowah Chapel of Adams-Buggs Funeral Service.
