Ernest Taylor was born April 10, 1956 at Saint Clare’s Hospital in Schenectady, New York to the union of the late Willie and Lessie B. Oliver Taylor. He began his early education in New York and later moved to Gadsden, Alabama and began attending Disque Junior High School. He went on to graduate from Gadsden High School and joined the military.

Ernest met and married the late Freda J. Edison after his tour of duty. They began a family and their union was blessed with three sons, Jerrick Jawaun Taylor, Justus Jamal Taylor, both of Waldolf, MD Jonathan Devine Taylor, Gadsden, AL.

Ernest accepted Christ early on in life and was baptized at Mount Olive Baptist Church. While in Gadsden, he was employed at the Gulf State Steel and the City of Gadsden Police Department. He loved computers and could do anything with them. He also loved the Word of God and was especially keen with the Greek Scriptures. He often taught Theology when traveling back to Korea.

Ernest later married Monica Celeste Davis in 1982. This union was blessed with one son, Matthew Harris Taylor and one daughter, Honi Ginger Taylor, all of Gadsden, AL.

Ernest departed this earthly life on Saturday, April 18, 2020 after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia T. Brooks and one brother, Willie Taylor, Jr.

 Those left to cherish his memories to include his five children are a devoted sister, Beverly T. Hogg, of Gadsden, AL; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nieces; one nephew; a host of cousins and friends.

Cremation Service has been provided.
