Music by The Piano Brothers

Phyllis Marie Russell, age 63, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 16, 2021 under the loving care of her cousin Bernadette Lowery Brooks in Birmingham, AL.  She was born October 26, 1957 in Gadsden, AL to Jocephus Russell and Nona J Russell Herring.
She was a member of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, Gadsden, AL under the pastorage of Roderick Thomas where she served on the Usher Board.

She was a graduate of Gadsden High School, class of 1975.  She married J D Williams in the summer of 1988.  She worked at McGuffey Healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant where she imparted her knowledge and skills in caring for the elderly to new trainees.

Phyllis lived a nomadic life, frequently moving her daughters,  exposing them to different cultures and foods.  She is best known for her straightforward advice on love and relationships, and she taught her daughters and family members the importance of knowing their worth and standing up for themselves.  She had an uncanny ability of making people feel comfortable to live in their truth.

She was preceded in death by her husband (Williams) and her beloved daughter Rosilyn R Russell and aunts and uncles that have united with Christ.  She is survived by her mother Nona J Herring, her daughter Dr. Farrah K Russell, her grandchildren Timothy Russell Sr and Montana Taylor, great grandchildren: Timothy Russell Jr and Razalyn Russell, her brothers: Gary Russell, Todd Russell, and Dexter Herring, her aunts and uncles: Kathryn Reeves, Roosevelt Heard (Rosemary), Frances Williams (Chester), Ora D Heard, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

To the Russell Family, I send my condolences to you in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I attended grammar school with Phyliss at L.V. Johnson Elementary, she was a very nice person and as I encountered her later on in life, she displayed that same sense of kindness on the inside that matched her outward beauty. May the God of all comfort keep you now and in the days to come.
