He will wipe out every tear from their eye, and death will be no more, neither will mourning, nor outcry, nor pain be anymore.  The former things have passed away.
Revelations 21:4

Mrs. Robbie Jean Thornton began life’s journey on March 11, 1947 to the parentage of the late Mr. Darnell Ragland and the late Mrs. Ceola-Embry Wills.

Robbie Jean gave her life to Christ at an early age, a devoted member of the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church until the Master called her home.

She was a very active servant of God, holding many positions, the most precious one being that of President of the Pine Grove Matrons. She brought life and energy into any room that she walked in with her infectious smile and persona. Her thoughtfulness, kindness and gentle heart will be missed by so many.

On early Sunday morning, February21, 2021, our beloved mother departed her mortal life and put on immortality in peace at St. Vincent’s Hospital – Birmingham, Alabama. God in his special way at his perfect time, picked from our midst this sweet soul and added her to his heavenly garden where her spirit will bloom forever.

She was married to the late Roy Thornton for twenty-nine years.

Robbie leaves to cherish her loving children: Worshunda(Orandray) Collins.  Victor (Tamiko) Ragland,  Terror ( Richard) Ragland, Armitta(Clyde) Embry, , Forrest Fomby, Kenneth (Marsha), Fomby, Frederick (Myra) Fomby, Tyrone (Mary) Fomby, and LeQueda; siblings: Yvonne, Scott, Augusta Ragland, Jonathan (Lillian) Ragland,  Leona Hicks, Mary(Michael) Stallworth, and Eddie(Cynthia) Ragland; Goddaughter: Sherridon Nix; Special little heartbeats: Christlyn Zapata, and Khamaria Sykes, and a  host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, friends and other relatives; Special friend, Ms . Dorothy Dawson.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Roy Thornton; parents, Darnell Ragland, and Ceola-Embry Wills; siblings, Barbara Swain, Shirley Evans, Nancy Adams and Donald Ragland.

My heart is heavy as I think about not seeing Robbie at the Post Office, Dollar General and grocery store--the three places that we always 'ran' into each other; so, I can't begin to imagine how heavy your hearts must be. I pray that you find strength in your faith in God's wisdom and in your memories of her and the strength she showed during adversities. She will truly be missed. She is indeed resting; and in peace.

Terror and family,
I extend my condolences and deepest sympathy on the lose of our mother. I pray God will comfort you during this time.

“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

– Philippians 3:13-14
