It is with heartfelt sympathy that we announce the passing of Mr. Preston Hendrix, Ft. Payne, AL, who transitioned from his earthly life on Friday, July 2, 2021 at the age of 78.  We ask that you keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

 

Preston T. Hendrix was born August 7, 1942 to the union of Climmie Hendrix & Mable Hendrix.
 
Preston confessed Christ as his personal savior early in his career life and was a member of the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church until his health declined. Preston liked watching Auburn football games, watching western shooting’em up movies, singing quartet music, spending time with his wife, family and friends. He was caring and loving to so many. He knew how to make you laugh and keep a smile on your face.
 
Preston departed this life during the early morning hours on Friday, July 2, 2021. He was preceded in death by both his parents, beloved wife Eleanor D. Hendrix, nephew Adam F. Underwood, niece Mable Brown and great-nephew Steven McElrath.
 
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving brother Climmie L. Hendrix (Collinsville), sisters Minnie R. Brown (Fort Payne), Lola Underwood (Fort Payne); brother-in-laws Jack Dempsey (Janice) and Joe L. Underwood (Valleyhead); Alan Hendrix, Rodney Chuck McElrath (Fort Payne), Joseph F. Underwood (NJ); nieces,  Jaccie Gray (Devon), Anitra Hightower (Fort Payne), Rayshawn McElrath (Fort Payne), Corey U Carr (NYC), Deon & Darien Allen (Chattanooga, TN), Keyshawn Hightower (Fort Payne), Kevin Hightower (Fort Payne), RJ Lee (Fort Payne), Matthew Underwood (FL); great nieces Anjelica McElrath (Fort Payne), Desje Lee (Fort Payne), Zarria Nelson (Chattanooga, TN), Camille Underwood (FL) and Sequoyah Underwood (Minnesota); a host of great-great nieces and nephews; special cousins Jeffrey Bobby, Rickey Jelks, Wanda Kay Prater and a host of other cousins, extended family and friends.
