Adell (Farris) McAlpin

With heartfelt sympathy we announce the earthly transition of Mrs. Adell Farris McAlpin of Gadsden who traded time for eternity on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the age of 83.

Homegoing Celebration will be 11:00a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the Gadsden Senior Activity Center with Rev. Mario McDaniel, officiating. Interment will follow at Lincoln Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00p.m Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Adell Farris McAlpin was born March 19, 1938, to the union of Henley Farris and Ada V. Sewell.

She accepted Christ as her lord and Savior at an early age and united with Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Gadsden, Alabama.

Adell graduated from Carver High School in 1957 and also attended Gadsden State Junior College.

On November 1, 1954 she married the love of her life Gilbert McAlpin and to this union four children were born.

In Adell’s spare time she enjoyed bowling, playing pokeno, cooking and entertaining, social services, and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Adell was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert McAlpin; parents, Henley and Ada McAlpin.

Those left to cherish her memories children, Sheldon (Rosalyn) McAlpin, Michael McAlpin, Rey (Beth) McAlpin, Lisa (Jerome) McAlpin Williams; grandchildren, Tamaria McAlpin, Lauren McAlpin Miller, Brittany McAlpin Sharp, Khiari McAlpin Knox, Marcus McAlpin, Ian Jackson; great-grandchildren, Elliott Jaxon McAlpin, Emma Rose McAlpin, Ella Rey McAlpin; siblings, Frances Semien, Richard Farries, Nate Farries, nieces and nephews, Pam Isaac, Julene Semien, Kellie Semien; aunt, Lula V. Cook; cousins, David Booker, Madeline Booker, Augustus Cook, Robert H. Cook, Jr., JoAnn Dawson, Kenneth Farris, Gloria Street, Pearl Spanks, Mildred Swain, Kenneth Wills, Sharol Wills, and the entire Player family.
