With heartfelt sympathy we announce the earthly transition of Annie Doris Bostick Johnson, of Gadsden, who traded time for eternity on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the age of 80.
Annie Doris Bostick Johnson was born the second child to the late Samuel and Claudia Bostick on December 21, 1942. She received Christ early at First Baptist Church in Green Pastures.
Annie received her formal education in the Gadsden public school system, where she earned her high school diploma from Carver High School, class of 1960. She went on to earn her nursing degree from the Good Samaritan Hospital. She later earned a degree from Alabama State University.
In December 1969, Annie married the late Isaac E. Johnson in Germany. Later, she began working as a nurse at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. Annie retired in 2001 after 32 years of service.
Everyone knew her as “DJ” and “Dye-dee.” She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Isaac Johnson, parents Samuel and Claudia Bostick, brother Ira Bostick, and sister Sandra Pointer.
She leaves to cherish her many memories: children, Paula (Kennith) White, Bryan (Constance) Bostick, Bernard (Vinita) Johnson, and Wanda (Dock) Nowell; sisters, Earline Hatcher, Geneva Crook, Rebecca Bostick, Virginia Jackson, Darryl Lynn Marbry, and Cynthia Madden; brother Samuel (JoAnn) Bostick; sisters-in-law, Lula Johnson, Bennie Crenshaw, Patricia Johnson, Evelyn Johnson, and Gwen Johnson; brother-in-law Wayne Pointer; grandchildren, Tiffany White, Karen (Maurice) Gilbert, Brittany Holston, Jalisa Peterson, Donte’(Jessica) Leonard-Malone, Terrance (Stephanie) Wallace, Ryan (Raven) Bostick, Jaden Bostick, Julendria Nowell, Jada Johnson, Jordan Nowell, and thirteen great-grandchildren. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
