Ms.Annie Mae Townsend was born on September 21, 1944, to parents Pauline Townsend of Gadsden, Alabama, and Andrew Townsend of Talladega, Alabama.
She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and united with Macedonia Baptist under the leadership of Reverend Hubert Baker. She later attended Henry Street Church of Christ under the leadership of Brother Anthony Norwood. She received numerous awards and recognitions.
She graduated from Carver High School in the class of 1963. She went on to work in the nursing field for 47 years. After 47 years of service, she retired from Riverview Medical Center in 2014. She also received Employee of the Year in 1998. She was the recipient of the Mary Kay Star Consultant Award in 2010.
She enjoyed Mary Kay, traveling, playing bingo, watching Alabama football, and NCIS, and enjoying her family.
Annie departed her earthly life on Tuesday, April 4, 2023. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Andrew and Pauline Townsend; and her sister, Earlene Townsend Bilbrew.
Annie leaves to cherish her loving memories, sons, Laverne (Cheryl) Townsend, Birmingham and Kevin (Tomasina) Townsend, California; brothers, James (Ocie)Townsend, Gadsden and Terry Townsend; sisters, Paulette Ervin and Francis Burns; grandchildren, Kevin (Ari) Townsend, Jr., Baltimore, MD, DeAndre (Alison)Townsend, Mobile, Alabama, U’kee Knowles, Quantez Knowles; eight great-grandchildren, cousin and a host of nieces, and nephews; best friend, Era Brewster; godson, Nathaniel King; special cousins, Barbara Moten-Williams (Tiffany), The Moten Family and a host of relative and friends.
