Barbara Williams Obituary

It is with deep sympathy, we announce the transition of Mrs. Barbara Wiiliams of Gadsden, who traded time for eternity on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the age of 78.  Please keep Mrs. Williams family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this time.

Barbara Joyce Williams 78, was born to Susie and Gordon Williams, Sr., on December 16, 1945, in Gadsden, AL. Barbara’s life was a wonderful journey illustrated in love, service, and wisdom.

Her journey began in Gadsden, where she grew up.  She and her siblings learned the principles of hard work, commitment, and service through their parents. After graduating from Carver High School in 1964, she earned an associate’s degree in office administration while working a regular 9-5.

Barbara knew the importance of having a relationship with and serving the Lord. She began her walk at St. John CME Church and served as a pianist. After living in Chicago, IL for several years, she returned to Gadsden and became a member of True Faith Revival Center under the leadership of Prophet R.V. Garth. where she served as the church administrator and was later ordained as an evangelist. Later, Barbara joined Abundant Life Church under Bishop Terry A. and First Lady Charlotte Jones. She was active in Sunday School and the missionary ministry.

She was devoted to daily prayer and studying the Word of God.  Barbara loved the Word but more importantly, SHE LOVED GOD! On top of that, she was a very great cook and thoroughly enjoyed preparing meals for her family, friends, and community!

She was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Williams, Sr.; mother, Susie Lee Williams; brother, William Reeves and his wife, Kathryn Reeves; brother, Gordon “Sonny” Williams, Jr. and his wife, Jacqueline Williams.

She leaves to mourn her passing five children (her pride and joy), Christopher (Edna) Williams, Kevin Williams, Autra “Nita” Willis, Bryan (LaMeca) Williams and Jimmie (Kimberly Marbuary) Williams;
one brother, Ralph (Wysteria “Teria”) Williams; grandchildren, Dunte’ Mitchell, Shanequa Pope, Elexandra Williams, Tarribian Harris, Otis Hughley, Jalen Williams, Chasity Kimber, Zion Williams, Jecorean Williams, Arianna Manning, Detavion Stanley, LaRayna Biddle, Keilan and Ethan Smith;
