Betty Sue (Guice) Scales

With heartfelt Sympathy we announce the earthly transition of Ms. Betty S. Guice Scales of Gadsden, who traded time for eternity on Monday, March 7, 2022 at the age of 79.

Betty Sue Scales was born on December 17, 1942, in Tuskegee, Alabama to the late Wilbur Kelly, Sr. and Ilean Guice Kelly. She accepted Christ at an early age. She attended West Gadsden Elementary and Carver High School. 

Betty moved to Queens, NY where she met the love of her life David Scales in 1959. They were joined together as one in holy matrimony until he preceded her in death. 

Betty gave up the ghost on March 7, 2022. Along with her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her grandson, Kenneth Rayshun Bothwell.

She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Stephanie Guice Brown, Gadsden, AL and Annette Scales, Greenville, NC; two sons, Michael and Steven Scales, Greenville, NC; two granddaughters, BreAuna Bothwell, Glencoe , AL, KeyAuna (Marlon) Quinn, Stockbridge, GA; one great-granddaughter, Siera Bothwell; six great-grandson, Anthony and Cameron Bothwell, Brandon Martin, Jr., Iziah, Marlon Jr. and Micah Quinn; two sisters, Mary Alice (Will) Jones, Gadsden, AL, Annie Jean Brookins, Farmington MI; three brothers, Wilbur Kelly, Jr., Las Vegas, NV, Rickey Kelly, Gadsden, AL and Larry (Casey) Kelly Los Angeles, CA; a special devoted cousin, Chyvonne Woods, Oakland, CA, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
