Bettye Threatt Obituary

With heartfelt sympathy we announce the passing of Mrs. Bettye Willis Threatt of Gadsden, formerly of Talladega, who departed this earthly life surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at the age of 73.

On January 29th 1949 Bettye was one of 14 children born in Birmingham, AL to the late Sessor and Nellie Willis. Along with her came a twin brother. She attended Oxmoor Elementary school and graduated from Rosedale High School. After graduating high school, she moved to Port Chester, New York, where she studied computer data entry.

As a result of her mother’s faithful guidance, Bettye learned the truth about Jehovah from God’s word the Bible and symbolized her dedication in water baptism in 1963.
Bettye's greatest joys were caring for family and serving as a full time minister (pioneer), following Jesus’ example of preaching the good news of God's kingdom. In her good health, she spent over 70 hours each month going from door to door, street corners, in shopping centers; basically anywhere people could be found, even those that came to her bedside. During her lifetime, she assisted many individuals to become faithful Christian Witnesses of Jehovah. Her faithful children and grandchildren are a testament to her tireless efforts to train and nurture her family in the discipline and mental regulating of Jehovah.

Bettye married Roosevelt Threatt on July 24,1971 and to this union 4 children were born.

Bettye was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Don Willis, Paul Willis, King Willis;  and 1 sister, Rubye Willis. She is survived by her husband, Roosevelt; 1 daughter, Kimberly (John) Dickerson; 3 sons, Roosevelt Christopher (Selisa) Threatt, Rondale (Erica) Threatt, all of Birmingham, AL, Ryan (Lea) Threatt, Gadsden, AL; 12 grandchildren, Kaleb Threatt, Morgan (Don) Bennett, Kriston Dickerson, Kortney Dickerson, Chasen Threatt, Christa Threatt, Marquise Thomas, Karsten Threatt, Na'Zhara Threatt, Micah Threatt, Nathan Threatt, Laila Threatt; great-grandson, Ethan Kash Threatt; 5 sisters, Shirley Willis Brown, Tensie Ivery, Alpha (Ralph) Cole, Omega Willis, Peasie Willis; 4 brothers, Shelvy (Vera) Willis, Andrew (Dora) Willis, Anthony (Yolanda) Willis (her twin), Henry Willis; a host of neices, nephews, cousins and friends.
