It is with deep sympathy, we announce the passing of Mr. Charles Thomas of Gadsden, AL, who transitioned on Friday, October 1, 2021, at the age of 86. We ask that you pray with us and keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Mr. Charles Lee Thomas was born on December 23, 1934, in Cottage Grove, Alabama to the parents of Mr. Calvin Thomas and Lessie Mae Leonard.
He loved the Lord and his family above all things.
Charles married Ms. Sallie Shepard at the age of 18 and to this union 13 children were born.
He worked from ages 18 - 30 in Gadsden for Ross Neely Trucking Company before moving to Chicago, IL in 1968. He worked for Central Steel Company in Broadview, IL for 15 years. He worked for 7up Corporation for 25 years before retiring in 1999. He relocated back to Gadsden in 2010 and remained until his time of passing.
He was the best husband, father, grandfather, provider and protector anyone could ever ask for. He loved sports especially football (University of Alabama, Roll Tide).
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sallie Thomas; son, Charles Thomas, Jr.; daughter, Deborah Thomas; son, Cedric Thomas; and son, Jerry Thomas; parents, Calvin and Lessie Thomas; three sisters and 4 brothers.
He is survived by his daughters, Gabriel (Omatsey) Alade, Sophia Thomas, Cathy Thomas, Sherry (Willie) Thomas, Tiffini (Theordore) Thomas and Latonya Thomas; sons, Jeffrey Thomas, Renaldi Thomas, Antjuan Thomas and Ravon Thomas; sister-in-law, Linda Martin; 45 grandchildren, 85 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
