It is with heartfelt sympathy that we announce the passing of Mr. Claude Murphy, Jr. of Gadsden, AL, who transitioned on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at the age of 78. We ask that you keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
On the blessed day of June 15, 1944, Claude Murphy, Jr. was born to Sadie and Claude Murphy, Sr., in Gadsden, AL. He proved to be a fine young lad............. Their first-born son.
With a strong determination, he attended school and excelled in academics, math and history were is favorite subjects. Also, his athletic abilities were discovered. He had a passion for running track.
After graduating from Carver High School, he enrolled in the U. S. Navy and was discharged with Honors. He traveled around the world.
In his leisurely time, he enjoyed music and dancing. He enjoyed listening to James Brown and doing the "James Brown" dance which gave many sheer delight. However, he learned about the greatest man that ever walked the face of the earth, Jesus Christ. He learned about the government that Jesus endorsed, God's Kingdom that will solve all of man kinds problems ........sickness, death, hunger, and violence, just to name a few. He thus became a preacher and teacher .... An ordained minister to the best of his ability.
On October 16, 2022, he fell asleep in death knowing that he will awaken to a bright promised future here on earth. John 5: 28-29, Psalm 27:29, Revelation 21 :3-4.
Those who will cherish fun memories of him are, his wife, Oliva Murphy; grandsons, Gregory and Jeremy Brewster; brother, Henry Murphy; sisters, Daisy Clark, La French Murphy; cousin, Thelma Turner; sister-in-law, Cora Robert Hubbard, and a host of beautiful nieces, nephews, and cousin who are like precious gems to him that made his life richer. Over 8 million brothers and sisters all over the world make up his family as well.
