With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of Mr. Cornelius McCary of Gadsden, who traded time for eternity on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at the age of 78. We ask that you keep his family and friends in your prayers during this difficult time. Services to be announced.
Cornelius McCrary was born on January 28, 1944 in Boaz Alabama.
Cornelius was an active member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of the Deacon Board, Trustee ministry, Treasury ministry, and numerous other departments in the church.
Cornelius was known as a humble God-fearing man willing to always give a helping hand. He would often do small jobs/handyman work without charge for his ser vice.
Mr. McCrary was an avid fan of the Auburn football team. He also loved to fish and watch game shows. He was fondly known as "Daddy Woot" in the community of Albertville.
His beloved wife, Debra McCrary preceded him in death. His parents and brother, Roy Shropshire also preceded him in death years ago. A step-daughter, Christie Williams preceded him in death.
He leaves in his cherished memories, three children, Rev. Jerome Roberts (Mary-Ann) of Meridian, MS, Alethia Ahmed-Parkin of Baldwin, NY, and Colleen McCrary of Baldwin, NY; 2 step-children, William Roberts and Christine Roberts both of Albertville, AL; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a tremendous group of friends and church family.
