With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of Edward Arthur Jones, Sr. of Ashland, who traded time for eternity on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at the age of 78.
Mr. Edward Arthur Jones was born November 10,1945 in Clay County, Alabama to the union of the late Jim and Essie Jones.
Ed, as he was affectionally called, received his formal education in the Clay County school system. He received Christ at a young age and was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
Ed was a hardworking and strong-willed person. He worked hard to provide for himself and his family. He gave thirty plus years of service to Ace Products until his retirement.
Ed was helpful to many people in the community. He would often times plow up gardens and bush hog fields for people. He enjoyed gardening, watching sports and westerns and sometimes laughing and talking with family and friends.
Edward traded this journey in life for a new life on October 8, 2024. Those who preceded him in this transition include his parents; his wife, Lillie Pearl Sue Henson Jones; and daughter, Edna M. Jones.
Those left to continue on their journey, carrying on his legacy of love include two sons, Edward A. Jones, Jr. (Marshae Smiley Jones) of Talladega, AL, James A. Jones of Ashland, AL; stepdaughter, Bridget Pearson of Anniston; stepson Marlin Vaughn (Shemikia) of Ashland, AL; 3 grandchildren, Nyesha Smiley, Nolan Tanner, and Maurice Jones; two special cousins; Lillie Turman and Annie Turman, and a host of other relatives and friends.
