It is with heartfelt sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of Mrs. Glenda Mae McKenzie Hollanquest of Attalla, who traded time for eternity on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the age of 69.
Mrs. Glenda Mae “Bae Bae” McKenzie Hollanquest was born on January 25, 1955, in Attalla, AL, to the late Autley McKenzie, Sr. and Nell Jo McCloud McKenzie.
Glenda was educated in the Attalla City School System at Norris High and Etowah High Schools. She accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion Full Gospel Church under the leadership of Rev. T. P. Walker.
Glenda was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Rosa Lee McCloud, and Nona Tate Reese; grandfathers, Governor McKenzie, Sr., and William McCloud, Sr.; several aunts and uncles.
On Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 12:06 p.m. the Lord knew she was getting tired and called her home.
She leaves to cherish her memories two loving daughters, Mrs. Yolanda (Eric) Morange, Attalla, AL, Mrs. Chara Zatarain, Boaz, AL; two sons, Nana Hollanquest, Gadsden, AL, and Travis (Autumn Clifton) McKenzie, Attalla, AL; two sisters, Irma (Jimmie) Deramus, Deatsville, AL, Marie Holt, Gadsden, AL; two brothers, Lavaughn McCloud, Attalla, AL, Autley (Velanda) McKenzie, Jr., Gadsden, AL; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; special companion for many years, Nathaniel Davenport, Jr.; special friends, Shirley Jenkins, Pearlie Mae Hamilton, Gloria Douglas, Gary Aaron, and Tommy Hicks; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and her dog “Star”.
Dear God,
I just wanted to say thank you Jesus for another day. Watch over my children and grandchildren bless them with better health and send some blessings their way. Bless us in a way we’ve never known. Amen.
