It is with heartfelt sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of Glenda Kay (Bougit) Moore of Ft. Payne, who traded time for eternity on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at the age of 77.
Mrs. Glenda Kay Bougit Moore was born on March 10,1947, to the late Chester Bougit and Lois Greathouse Hollie of Fort Payne, Alabama.
She graduated from Frederick Douglas high school in 1965 and attended Alabama State University where she excelled in track & field. She was also a published author of “In God, Faith, In Us.” Glenda graduated from cosmetology school and successfully opened her own beauty salon, showcasing her passion for the beauty industry and entrepreneurship.
Glenda was a faithful member of Fort Payne Baptist Church of Douglas, she was also a member of Tribe of Levi choir. She was a member of the civil rights organization Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). Pursuing her hobbies for cross stitch, bingo and going to the casino, she also enjoyed watching her Auburn tigers play football every Saturday.
On Wednesday morning, September 25, 2024 Glenda shared her last few moments with us. Her departure was not just an end, but the beginning of a new journey filled with peace and light. Those who loved her are left to cherish her memory, holding on to the warmth and love she shared during her time with us.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, Chester Bougit and Lois Greathouse Hollie, Stepfather Roy Hollie, Sisters; Emma Prater and Dewatha Bougit
She leaves her cherish memories her husband Richard Moore, Fort Payne, Alabama; Four children: Terence ( Tricia) Moore, Fort Payne, Alabama, Shawnta ( Vonda) Moore, Fort Payne, Alabama, Consuela ( Todd) Lewis, Columbus, Ohio, Reginald ( Marquite) Moore, Rome Georgia; 13 Grandchildren, Dominique Moore, Stephon Moore, Devonte Lewis, Shamaya Moore, Isaiah Williams, Deja Lewis, Reginald Moore Jr, Tiara Lewis, Andre Lewis, Carmelo Moore, Tyler Lewis, Aubrie Moore, Augusta Moore; 4 great grandchildren; Aneris Mostiller, Jalen Mostiller, Yamari Lewis, and Jamir Lewis; Brother; James ( Elizabeth) Bougit, Fort Payne, Alabama; Sister; Donna (Stan) Craig Columbus, Ohio, Brother in law; Flenory (Mary) Moore, Attalla, Alabama, Dallas ( Brenda) Moore, Decatur, Alabama; sister in law; Willie Jackson, Collinsville, Alabama, Martha Moore, Columbus Georgia, Shirley Moore, Decatur, Alabama; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
