With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of Ivan Brent People Sr., who traded time for eternity on Tuesday, July 22,2025 at the age of 63. We ask that you keep his family and friends in your prayers during this most difficult time.
Ivan Brent Peoples, Sr., was born on August 15, 1961, in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky to Alonzo Peoples and Ann White-Linder.
Most of his school years were spent in Fayetteville, North Carolina, but he graduated from Gadsden High School in 1979. He was an avid lover of sports; he enjoyed playing community basketball and was known for his love of the game and the friendships he built on the court during his younger years. He especially loved cheering for the University of Alabama (ROLL TIDE) and the Atlanta Falcons—never missing a game when he could help it.
He was united in marriage to Zeola Wynn-Peoples in February 1983 and to their union, three children were born. He had a contagious smile for all that knew him. The person he was, he would give the shirt off his back to help anyone. He was such a joy to be around and loved by all.
He departed this earthly life on July 22, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John Henry and Jennie B. White; paternal grandparents, Lonzo and Lugene Peoples; his aunts, Ada Lee, Lessie Cofield, Flora Faye Jemison and Lillie Holstick; uncles, George Bankston, WD and Oscar Peoples.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his loving wife, Zeola Wynn-Peoples; his three children, Ivan Brent Peoples, Jr., Shalima Peoples, and Pierre Peoples, Sr., all of Gadsden, AL; thirteen grandchildren, Ivyon (Sabrina) Westbrooks, Pierre Peoples, Jr., Justin Peoples, Alexis Peoples, Zion Peoples, Iyanna Peoples, Jai’La Peoples, Parrish Peoples, Nevaeh Peoples, Diamond Carlisle, Journee Graves, Dillon Graves all of Gadsden, AL, and Cameron Peoples, Las Vegas, NV; one great-grandchild, Nahmir Peoples, Gadsden, AL; his mother, Ann White-Linder, Rochester, NY; his father, Alonzo Peoples, Fayetteville, NC; mother-in-law Dorothy Wynn; two sisters, Regina Peoples-June, Rochester, NY, and Dorothy Perkins, Louisville, KY; one brother, Eric (Carly) Peoples, Chapell Hill, NC; one sister-in-law, Debra Flambo; two brother-in-laws, Henry (Gia) Wynn and Jerome (Sophia) Wynn; aunts, Doris McElderry, White Plains, NY, Brenda (Peter) Billups, Rochester, NY, Williedean Gray, Greenville, SC; uncles, Billy (Marie) Bankston, Jamaica, NY, Gerald (Rose) Bankston, Charleston, SC, and Howard (Mary) Peoples, Los Angeles, CA; two nieces, Sundiata Peoples and Tara Croft; one nephew, Omar Peoples; special cousins, Victor Powell and Debra White-Perry; special people in his life, Porsha Yeboah, Jemina Mensha, Larry Wyatt and James King, and a host of other relatives and friends.
