J. D. Jones

With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of Mr. J.D. Jones of Gadsden, who went from labor to reward on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at the age of 84.  Services will be Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Old Oakgrove Cemetery,  Sprout, AL, 36756.  We ask that you keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this time of bereavement.

Mr. J.D. Jones was born to Mr. Andrew Jones and Mrs. Elozra Ford Jones on April 13, 1938, in Perry County, AL.

He confessed Christ at an early age at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. He was an active member and held many positions in the church such as a deacon, and Sunday School Teacher.

He attended school at Mt. Gilead. Later he started working with Melton Logging company for over 20 years. Afterward, he worked at N.D. Cash toy company from which he retired. He was also a Mason. J.D. enjoyed life to the fullest living by his philosophy of live, laugh, and love.

J.D. was united in holy matrimony to Lunetten Melton Jones in 1959. To this union, five children were born. 

He is proceeded in death by his loving wife, Lunetten; two children, Jerry Lee and Erma Jean Jones.

He moved to Gadsden, AL in 2000, where he lived his life to the fullest until his departure.
 

He leaves to cherish his loving memory three daughters, Luvan (Milton) Gilliham of Montgomery, AL, Lozella (Ben) Pryor and Gloria Jones both of Gadsden, AL; 16 grandchildren; two special granddaughters, Frances Jones, & Latoria Jones; 36 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, half-sister, Irma Melton; two sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a special friend Louis Glover whom shall love and cherish his memory dearly.
