It is with heartfelt sympathy, that we announce the passing of Mr. James Donald Harris of Anniston, AL, who transitioned on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at the age of 77. We ask that you keep his family and friends in your prayers during this difficult time.
James Harris affectionately known as "Duck", was born January 3, 1946, to the union of Sonny and Rosa Harris in Calhoun County, Alabama.
Early in life, James accepted Christ as his Savior with Players Chapel Church. James received his formal education from Calhoun County School. After completing high school James traveled to Detroit, MI, where he lived for several years and was employed by Chrysler. James later moved to Beaumont, TX where he was employed by the Railroad system. James returned to Anniston to live the rest of his life with his life partner Cynthia Gray who preceded him death.
James departed his life on Thursday, December 14, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his parent Sonny and Rosa Harris; four sisters, Helen Sumlin, Lucille McCurdy, Virginia Sims, and Barbara Bolton; four brothers, Tom Harris, Andy Harris, Leroy Harris, and Eugene Harris; grandson, Takeem Pope, Sr.
He leaves to cherished his memories three daughters, Bridge Pope of Anniston, Al, Jeanette (Charles) Bowers of Eastpointe, MI, and Lanette (Rodney) Rich-Williams of Detroit, MI; one brother, Sylvester Harris of Anniston, Al; grandchildren, Shundrika (Shawn) Wilson, DaJuan Rich, Larod Rich, Ramone Lust, Moniyah Halthon, Kyron Williams, and Larry Dudley, III, and great-grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
