With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of James Thomas "Tim" Carter of Collinsville, who traded time for eternity on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at the age of 65. We ask that you keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
James Thomas Carter was born in rural Portersville, AL to Thomas Bill Williams and Ann Jeanette Carter on September 4, 1958.
James attended Gregory High School and later transferred to Collinsville High School during integration. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He also attended Good Samartian Church of God in Christ.
In his young adult life, he attended Job Corps and worked for M & M Steel, Cagles Inc., and several Hosiery Mills in the Ft. Payne area until he became disabled.
James was affectionately known by many nicknames, “Tim” being the most popular one, as well as “Tru Dat”, “Fifteen”, “Tee Cee”, and “Twenty-Two”.
James enjoyed playing football, baseball, basketball, softball and being around family and friends. He often spoke of the love that he had for his son and his grandchildren.
If you knew “Tru Dat” you knew that he enjoyed all types of music. As a matter of fact, he named his son, Casanova after one of his favorite songs by the group “Levert”. He often quoted the lyrics from so many songs such as Picture Me Rollin' by Tupac.
James was an intelligent, giving, and honorable man. This was displayed on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, when he gave the gift of life to someone else by donating his organs.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Jeanette Carter and Thoms B. Williams; sisters, Christine Smith, and Kathleen Nash; brother, Eddie Reese; grandparents, Sidney and Carrie Carter, Bill Mack, and Mary Alice George Williams.
Those left to cherish his memories are his son, Timothy Casanova Williams; grandchildren, Mason Paul Brown Williams, Bentl Teegan Williams; siblings, Wanda Thompson, Collinsville, AL, Olivia (Randall) Thompson, Jacksonville, FL, Joseph Carter, Fort Payne, AL, Lisa Williams, College Park, GA, Shannon Carter, Troy, AL, and special friends, Stacey Killian, Annie Bell Hill, Elaine Hill, Chase Bell, Divell Bell, Roy Lee Haynes, Sylvester Williams, and host of relatives and dear friends.
