Obituary

With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of Ms. Jeanette Greene Allen of Gadsden who went from labor to reward on Friday, August 12, 2022 at the age of 75.


Mrs. Jeanette (Peanut) Greene Green Allen
Jeanette was born September 7, 1946, to the late Mr. Vernon Greene and the late Mrs. Gwendolyn Pippen Greene in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  She was reared in Gadsden, Alabama, and educated in the Gadsden City School System. She graduated from Carver High School class of 1965. She attended Business School at Gadsden Technical College. 

She married Mr. McBride Green, Jr. in 1964, and to this union, two children were born, Valeecia Bronzell Green and Timothy Delawrence Green.  In 1982, she married again to Mr. Myron Allen, and a son was born, Brannon Eugene Allen.  She loved her children unconditionally.

She was baptized on June 23, 1957, at Shiloh Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. B. F. Patrick.  She wore many hats.  She was a faithful Servant at Shiloh Baptist Church.  She was the president of the Shiloh Missionary Society.  She was secretary of the Matrons Circle, Red Circle, and Youth Director.  She sung with the Spiritual Airs of Gadsden, Young Adult Choir, and The Senior Choir.  She worked with the Junior Usher Board, with Children she adored. She loved tutoring in the Shiloh Tutoring Program and teaching in Sunday School. She was the Director of the Vacation Bible School program. She was a member of the Wills Creek District Association, and she loved traveling to the Church Conventions. She worked with many of the Churches in the Community and would do anything for anybody.

She loved her city and was influential in her community.  She was a member of the NAACP and SCLC.  She was an Election pole worker for the City of Gadsden for many years. She volunteered in the Gadsden City School System, reading to elementary students. If you called her for anything, she was always ready to lend a helping hand. She never met a stranger.  She fed the homeless as well as clothed them, It didn’t matter the need. If you called Jeanette’s name, she would always be there. “Oh, What A Faithful Servant”.

She worked for the State of Alabama for more than 30 years.  She worked as an Employment Service Specialist for the State of Alabama. She also worked at the State Unemployment Claims Office.    

She is proceeding in death by her parents: Mr. Vernon R. Greene, Mrs. Gwendolyn Pippen Greene, siblings: Mr. Vernon Greene, Mrs. Vernell Mason, Mrs. Rosemary Greene Blackmon, and grandson: Adrian Green, grandparents: Mr. Frank Trimble and Mrs. Mary Lou Hall Pippen Trimble and Mr. Ernest Pippen.
The Lord called Mrs. Jeanette (Peanut) Greene Green Allen to her heavenly home on Friday, August 12, 2022. 


She leaves to Cherish her precious jewels her daughter, Valeecia (Alexis) Huntley, Buford, GA; sons, Timothy (Carolyn) Green, Southside, AL, and Brannon (Ashley) Allen, Crestview, FL; three granddaughters, Tanecia Green, Dacula, GA, Jaleecia Huntley, Converse, TX and Zaria Allen, Crestview, FL; three grandsons, Aaren Green, Southside, AL, Zakhori Allen, Tampa, FL, and Zaiden Allen, Crestview, FL; four great-grandsons, Joshua Green, Jaylan Green-Holder, Dacula, GA, Cayden Huntley and Eyzayah Huntley, Converse, TX; Goddaughter, Sharita (Princeton) Carlisle and God granddaughter, Dayun Wyatt, Gadsden, AL; loving sister, Anna Farmer, Philadelphia, PA; loving brother, Richard Greene, Philadelphia, PA; special cousins:, Frances Hundley and Dondrette Nichols; bonus children, Pamela Jackson, Cornelius Slaughter, Bessie Scott; chosen family, the Huntley family; best friend, Mrs. Veronica Deramus; special friends, Mr. Phillip Densmore, Mrs. Marcia Kendrick, Mr. & Mrs. Lonnie Jones, Mrs. Brenda Lipscomb, Mrs. Rosetta Jones, Mrs. Brenda Hutchinson, Mrs. Ray Nell Collins, Ms. Valerie Brown, Mr. John Reed, Mr. & Mrs. Earl Heard, Mrs. Teresa Davenport, Mrs. Jackie Davis, Mrs. Angela Gills and the Whisenant family; a host of nieces, nephews and family;
