Bowing in humble submission to the will of God and what he has allowed, we the officers and staff of Adams-Buggs Funeral Service, Inc. announce the earthly transition of our dearly beloved Jeffrey Elwood Corbin of Gadsden, who went from labor to reward on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at the age of 57. A great father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend and laborer in each of his fields, Jeffrey left an immeasurable impact on all of our lives and we solicit all honest heartfelt prayers for all of us.
Mr. Jeffrey Elwood Corbin was born on January 13, 1968, to Janetta Kimball and Oscar Lee Ferguson in Gadsden, Alabama. He was later adopted by William Harrison Corbin.
Jeffrey confessed Christ at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church under the pastorage of Reverend J. E. Merriweather. Jeffrey was very active in his younger days and was also a mason in the Fraternal Order of the Masonic Gethsemane Lodge #27 F & AM. His most recent accomplishment was being ordained as a deacon on April 12, 2025 under the pastorage of Reverend Alando Thornton.
Jeffrey graduated from Emma Sansom High School with the class of 1986 and loved all of their reunions and class outings.
Jeffrey began work as a young teenager with Adams Funeral Home under the tutelage of Otis Adams, Sr., and later with Wellman & Sons Funeral Home under the tutelage of Clayton B. Wellman. Both men instilled a wealth on knowledge and hard work ethic that carried Jeffrey through life. In his adult years, Jeffrey worked for other various companies such as Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and CXS Railroad. Jeffrey was most recognized for being a bus driver whether it was for Woods Transportation, Kelton Tours, and Gadsden State Community College.
Jeffrey’s final careers where the last thirteen years with Gadsden Water Works & Sewer, and the last fourteen years were devoted to his first love in the funeral industry with Adams-Buggs Funeral Service, where he was the Scrappy to our Doo, the Robin to Jared’s Batman, the Lil’ Mac to Daddy Mac (Fred McFee), and Mrs. Jennie’s favorite son who could get her chicken salad when no one else could.
Jeffrey enjoyed drag racing, fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, and having a good time. He was also a fan of the Boston Celtics, a Dallas Cowboys fan, and the University of Alabama, “Roll Tide!”
If he could do all of the above while picking up a body and sharing a wise crack, his day was truly made. With such a short stature, as some called him “Stump” he made an immeasurable impact on all the lives he touched. He was the go-to man for whatever you could imagine, even the latest “what really had happened was” or “listen to this.”
Jeffrey traded a life of uncertainty for a life of joy forevermore on Thursday, May 1, 2025. He’s in that Big Mansion in the sky fighting with his brother, Norman “Joey” Harkness, over his grandmother, Minnie “Muh” E. Kimball’s Lemon pies, while making sure his grandfather, Elwood Kimball, has everything he needs. His father, William Harrison Corbin was there waiting for him too, as well as his nephew, Jamal Johnson.
Jeffrey leaves behind so many happy and fond memories with his daughter, Kiana A.
