Jerome Vaughn Obituary

It is with deep sympathy, we announce the passing of Jerome "Romey Rome" "Gas Man" Vaughn of Gadsden, AL, who transitioned on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the age of 68.  We ask that you keep Jerome's wife, daughters, grandchildren, friends and family your thoughts and prayers during this time.

Mr. Jerome Darrell Vaughn was born February 23, 1956, in Gadsden, Alabama to the late Mr. John D. and Carneal Vaughn.

Mr. Vaughn attended Nancy E. Oden Junior High School before going on to play football at Gadsden High School, where he obtained his high school diploma. He began working for Shakey's Pizza the summer after graduation. Shortly after, he went to visit relatives in Buffalo, New York, and ended up residing there for several years. While in New York, he became interested in Karate and Judo. Unbeknownst to many, Jerome worked his way to brown belt competing in the Midwest and Canada. After 7 years, he chose to return home to Gadsden, Alabama, where he began working at Sherman-Williams Paint Store.

In Jerome’s free time, he loved to work out and became interested in bodybuilding. He read magazines that inspired him to learn everything he could about how to build his body through detailed training. He loved it so much that he became a loyal member of the YMCA before moving on to Gold's Gym in Rainbow City, AL, with Stacey Beechman. Jerome's best years of thorough training earned him the title of Mr. Alabama several times over, demonstrating his dedication to fitness. He finished his training career at Wilmore's Gym in Rainbow City, Alabama.

Never content with the bare minimum, Jerome kept looking for a position that would allow him to reach his full potential. He was hired by Alagasco, which subsequently changed its name to Spire. After 35 years of service as a Master Mechanic and Plumber, he retired on September 1, 2016.

Carrying on his parents' legacy, Jerome D. Vaughn married the love of his life, Pamela, on April 29, 2017. After years of attending concerts, sporting events, and traveling abroad, Pamela remained a faithful wife, companion, and caregiver until his final days. In his passing he was a devoted and active member at Abundant Life Church (ALC). Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn headed the marriage Ministry under the spiritual leadership of Bishop Terry A. and Lady Charlotte Jones. In addition, Jerome served as a member of ALC Brotherhood (Bishop’s Security).

Mr. Vaughn was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John D. Vaughn, and daughter Kellie Stone. His spirit of love remains with those whom he leaves to cherish his memory.
