Mr. Joseph Wayne Willingham was born August 19, 1951, to the late McComas and Annetta Willingham in Attalla, Alabama. After graduating high school, he was drafted by the Army in 1969 where he served and fought in the Vietnam War.
During his service, he was recognized and honored with the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
After an honorable discharge from the Army, he lived in Kansas for several years before relocating back to Gadsden, Alabama where he married the former Alfreda Brookins. He worked and later retired from Leesburg Yarn Mill where he worked as a technician.
Joseph was a huge sports and music fan and developed a love of woodworking. Most of all, Joseph loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. He gained his wings on December 9, 2022.
Joseph was preceded in death by his siblings, Marian Willingham, Irvin Willingham, and Phyllis Willingham Mack.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving and devoted wife, Alfreda; sons, Terrance (Mary) Thomas, Correll (Shannon) Thomas, and Anthony Thomas; daughters, Tiffany Jones, LaKeisha Hall, and Alesia (Myron) Childress; special daughter, Lydia (Glenn) Glover; brothers, Charles Willingham and Richard Willingham; sister, Bonnie Willingham; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, and other relatives and friends.
