Leonard Williams

It is with deep sympathy, we announce the passing of Mr. Leonard Williams of Gadsden, AL, who transitioned on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at the age of 84.  We ask that you keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Leonard Williams known by loved ones and friends, as Smiley and Big Daddy was born on December 30, 1938, to the late Albert Williams Sr., and Essie Mae Williams in Gadsden, Alabama. 

Leonard accepted Christ at an early age where he attended the First Baptist Church in Alabama City under the leadership of the late E.L.Gary. Later in life, he continued to serve the Lord at Friendship Church in Attalla, Alabama under the leadership of Pastor Tyson Burwell. For many years he ran his own business, Williams and Sons Contracting Company. Leonard enjoyed traveling with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dianne Williams; his parents; his children, Dent Williams, and Angela Elliot; his brothers, William E. Williams, Richard D. Williams, and Albert P. Williams Jr.; and son-in-law, Wallace Hill.

He leaves to cherish his memories, with his daughters Donzella Williams, Alicia Williams Hill, and Mia Williams, sons, Lamont Williams, Leonardo Williams, Brian (Nicole) Jenkins, and Darryl Waker; brother, Earnest (Patricia) Williams, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends, special cousin, Roberta Harvell, special friend, Kevin M. Calhoun.
