Lillie affectionately known as “Ms. Mary” was born July 27, 1934, to the late Alonzo Peoples and Eugene Moragne-Peoples, Altoona, Alabama.
At an early age, she was baptized at Eastside Baptist Church, Altoona, AL. During her later years, she united with Cornerstone Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Leonard Taylor. Lillie was married in holy matrimony to the late Sam Holstick. She gave birth to three sons and raised her older sister two girls as her own. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings, Faye P. Jemison, W.D. Peoples, Oscar “Lee” Peoples, and grandson Roderick “Beaver” White. She completed her earthly task on May 21, 2023, at Gadsden Health and Rehab Center.
She is survived by three sons; Tommy (Pamela) Rancher, Pasadena, CA; Timothy (Rose) Rancher and Sedrick Holstick both of Gadsden, AL; two daughters; Bettye (Jesse) Walker, Dallas, TX; Rita (Aron) White of Gadsden,AL; two brothers; Alonzo “Doll” Peoples, Fayetteville, N.C. and Howard (Joetta) Peoples, Los Angeles, CA; special grandchildren, Blake (Chelsey) Morgan, Cassandra (Naji) Ridley, TeMeika (Waide) Franklin, Antonio Walker, Antonette Harwell, Rashad, Rasheed, and Jameelah Rancher, Tiffany and Latosha Adkins, and Jarius Perry; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Robert (Sheila) Holston, Gadsden, AL; Otis Holstick, Kim and Charles Partlow III, and Paulette Wildy all of Georgia. Two sisters-in-law, Mattie Grady, Opelika, AL; and Fay Peoples, Long Beach, CA; The Butler family, a host of nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, other family members, and many dear friends.
