A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.  Please join us in mourning the passing of Mr. Luther Leon Fife, Sr., formally of Piedmont, AL who traded time for eternity on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at the age of 83.  Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this time of mourning.


Luther Leon Fife, Sr. was born on July 30, 1940, in Cherokee County Alabama to the late Etoy and Mary Emma Fife.
Leon graduated from Hatcher High School.  He was later drafted into the United States Army.  After his time was completed in the service, he married the late Christine Hutchinson Fife on January 2, 1965.  The couple relocated to New York where their two children LaVeth and Leon, Jr., were born.  Once moving back to Alabama Leon attended Coosa Valley Technical School where he obtained a certificate in the electrical field.  Leon had a long career in the workforce working for multiple companies.  He was an ambitious individual.  He was a small business owner of Fife & Hale Construction.  He later retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company with 20-plus years of service.
Leon was a hard-working individual and considered work as a hobby.  Once coerced into having fun he would go on cruises and vacations with family and friends.  He enjoyed cutting grass and working with heavy equipment.
Leon was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church.  He was a trustee.  He was a member of the Male Chorus and he functioned as the church electrician.  He had a passion for helping people.  Leon was a Master Mason at 166 Sunflower Lodge.  He served a total of 49 years.
On July 7, 2024, Leon succumbed to his illness and answered the call he could not refuse.  His family surrounded him in his final moments.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Hutchinson Fife; parents, Etoy and Mary Emma Fife; brothers, Roy Fife, Rudolph Fife, Carl Fife, Jimmy Fife, and Charles Fife; sisters, Evelyn McKinney and Mattie Hale; grandson, Christopher Hoyt.
Leon leaves to cherish two daughters, Cynthia (Gaylord) Hoyt, and LaVeth (Martin) Reese; one son, Luther Leon Fife, Jr.; grandsons, Byron (Martina), Justin, Malik, Malcolm, Ali, and Shiriq; chosen grand-daughter, Tyhesa; great-grands, Madison, Christian, Cameron, Kayla, Marcellus, and Maximus; special nephews, Ronnie Hale, Felipe Hutchinson, and David Andrew; special nieces, Mary Jenkins and Shirley Reese; special friend, John Starr, and a host of other nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
