Margaret Gregory McConnell

It is with deep sympathy we announce the passing of Mrs. Margaret McConnell of Gadsden, AL, who transitioned on Monday, November 22, 2021, at the age of 83. We ask that you keep her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Mrs. Margaret G. McConnell was born on February 24, 1938 in DeKalb County, Alabama to the late Alex Gregory and Irene Moore. She confessed Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she was one of the oldest members. During her tenure, she was a member of the usher board, the kitchen committee, the Missionary Society, and a committed trustee. She was a devoted CNA at the Collinsville Nursing Home for over 45 years from which she retired in May 2020. Given her love for healthcare, Margaret returned to work 3 days later. 

Margaret really enjoyed helping others, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with family and friends. Her favorite past time was watching The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. Despite her small stature, she had a heart that transcended heaven and touched many.  

She departed her life on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.

Preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John Alex Gregory, Willie Lee Gregory, and Harry Gregory; two Sisters, Cora Lee Williams, and Donzella Gregory; and late husband Columbus McConnell. 

Those left to cherish her memories are her beloved children Brenda (Zach) Thomas, Chicago, IL, Patricia (Jasper) Gregory, Birmingham, AL, Kathy (Earl) Jelks, Collinsville, AL, Sherrion Gregory, Collinsville, AL, and Eric McConnell, Collinsville, AL; Siblings Betty Cowart, Mary Gregory, Sammy Gregory, and Bobby Gregory; grandchildren Kareem Robbins, Monica (Anthony) Gregory, Anthony (Montez) Gregory, Dante Gregory, Patrina Boswell, Shemika (Damion) Jones, Laquata Boswell, Colby (Alyce) Thomas, Justin (Maria) Gregory, Shayla Boswell, and Marc Gregory; great-grandchildren Sierra Byers, Jonathan Byers, Kamryn Fryson, Jasmine Gregory, Ashyah Gregory, Javian Gregory, Jaxson Jones, Kinley Gregory, Estevan Gregory, Thiago Gregory, Jaden Gregory, Kahron Robbins, Kareem Cooper, Colby Thomas Jr., Payton Thomas, and Paris Thomas; niece Peggy Moore and a host of more nieces and nephews.
