With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of Marty Montae Lee of Gadsden, who traded time for eternity on Saturday, November 9, 2024. Please keep his friends and family in your prayers.
Marty Montae Lee was born on July 12, 1978, to Norman David Lee and Ester L Lee.
Marty was born alongside his twin sister Michelle Gayoz Lee (who was lost after their birth) at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Marty truly beat the odds, being diagnosed with sickle-cell anemia, doctors predicted that he would have a life span of 18 years, God said otherwise and we were blessed to have him for an additional 28 years.
Marty graduated from Belmont High School in Dayton, Ohio, in June 1996. After graduating, Marty eventually moved to Gadsden, AL, to be closer to his beloved family. During this time, Marty met and became smitten with the love of his life, Ava Lee, whom he married on June 26, 2002. Two children were born to their union, J'Montae Lee and Martyona Lee, whom he loved dearly.
Marty was always a sweet, loving, caring, kind, and generous man who loved his family deeply. He never met a stranger and was loved by so many.
Marty always had some project going! Any given day you would see him out in the yard working on vehicles and enjoyed trying to fix anything around the house. He also worked on various construction projects around Gadsden. He loved working with his hands just as his father did.
Due to a prolonged illness, Marty's earthly life course ended on November 9, 2024, at St. Vincent's East Hospital in Birmingham, AL.
Marty Lee was preceded in death by his father, Norman David Lee; sister, Michelle Gayoz Lee; grandparents, Jack and Julia Lee, Solomon Harris, and Mattie Mae Leonard; mother-in-law, Reba Smitherman; and aunts, Diane Brown, Dorothy Turner, and Cleo Bonner.
