Mary Ethel Jones

With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of Ms. Mary Ethel Greathouse Jones of Gadsden who went from labor to reward on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the age of 88.  Please keep Ms. Jones's family and friends in your prayers during this difficult time.

Ms. Mary Ethel Greathouse Jones was the second born of six children in Sylacauga, Alabama to the late Lela Mae Pearson of Gadsden, Alabama, and the late Otis Greathouse of Cincinnati, Ohio.

She accepted Christ early in life and united with Damascus Baptist Church.

She earned her associate's degree at the Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama. 

She retired from Goodyear after many years of dedication. She departed this life on May 14, 2022, at the age of 88. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Lela, Otis, and David Pointer Sr.; her brother, Mr. David E. Pointer, and her sister Mrs. Annie B. Greathouse Miller. 

She leaves her legacy with her four children, Jeannie E. White, Ozetta Jones, Roddrick (Myra) Jones, and Alan (Chareda) Sims. Those cherishing her memory alongside her siblings, Johnnie Greathouse, Mary Jean Penn, Mary Alice Randle, and Fred Miller; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Kendrick) White-Vaugh, Chris Jones, Katrina White, Stephanne Jones, Sean Jones, Leyla Sims, and Treyton Sims;  six great-grandchildren Jaylen, Jordan, Malaiyah, Yvonne, Kalvin and a special addition on the way. As well as a host of other family, and special friends and neighbors.
