Mary Dean Smith Wade, affectionately known as "Dean", was born to the union of Elder Floyd Lee Smith and Mother Lillie Ann Threatt Smith on, September 5, 1961, in Talladega, Alabama.
She received her formal education in the Talladega County School System, graduating with the class of 1980.
She confessed Christ at an early age, at Holy Hill COOLJC, under the leadership of the late Bishop Perry Thomas, in Lincoln, Alabama. Later in life she joined Greater Grace Church, in Ashville Alabama and Abundant Life, in Gadsden, Alabama, under the leadership of Bishop Terry A. Jones. Throughout her spiritual journey and walk with Christ, Mary has served at serval different churches as a dedicated choir member and soloist. Throughout the last year of her life she attended Emmanuel Temple COOLJC, under the leadership of Elder Nathaniel Smith, where she served faithfully until her passing.
On, August 15, 1992. Mary was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life and best friend, Malcolm Wade. Together, they had 3 beautiful children.
Mary was known for her vibrant personality, witty jokes, humble and giving spirt, and her undeniable god given gift to sing. There was NEVER a dull moment with her. As the old saying goes, " to know her was to love her". The absence of her presence will be greatly felt.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Malcolm Wade; her parents; brother, Alvester Smith; her in-laws, Albert and Bertha Wade, a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and other relatives.
On January 29, 2026, at Regional Medical Center in Anniston Alabama, Mary answered the master's call and traded mortal for immortality.
She leaves to forever cherish her memories, her son, Taji Fomby, Lincoln, AL; two daughters, Tamala Fomby (Gerald), Gadsden, AL, and Renita Wade, Piedmont, AL; seven grandchildren, Glyndon Fomby, Ty'Keria Armbrester, Tycah Fomby, Kayden Wade, Carlie Fomby, Kaylee Ferrell, and Dontario Ferrell; sister, Theresa (Samuel) Richey, Munford, AL; two nieces, Sandra (Terence) Tucker, Tameka Best; four great-nephews, Jonathan (Kahayla) Best, Jaylen (Nadiyah) Best, Kelby Tucker, and Kameron Tucker ; sisters-in-law, Deloise Wade, Lorraine Wade, Renee Wade, Riverside, AL, Vardean Evans, Cropwell, AL, Bertha Smith, Pell City, AL, and Carolyn Collins, Carrollton, GA; brothers-in-law, Howard (Vicki) Wade, Lansing, OH; goddaughter: Sharmaine (Anthony) Kimbrough; special daughters, Francina Calhoun, Jazmine Jones, and NaTasha Lawson; special friends, Deborah Suttle, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and more special daughters and sons.
