With deepest sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of Minister Pearlie Woods of Ashville, who went from labor to reward on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at the age of 73. Please keep Minister Woods family in your thoughts and prayers during this time.
Pearlie Virginia Woods was born in Ashville, Alabama to Willie 0. Woods, Sr., and Alice Wilburn Woods on September I I, I952.
Pearlie accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Robinson. She then moved her membership to Grace Bibleway Church, under Elder Terry A. Jones. She was also amongst the faithful members that stood behind Bishop Jones, when he said that he wanted to build and relocate to our current location which is Greater Grace Church. She stood and served under Bishop Jones for over 45 years until her untimely death, on September 30, 2025.
Pearlie received her formal education in the St. Clair County School system. She began her education at Ruben Yancy and graduated from Ashville High School in 1972. After graduation she worked at South Eastern Enamel, from there she started her career in the school system working for Headstart, the Migrant program and also Ashville Elementary School and completing her career at Ashville High School, with over 25 years of faithful service, where she was known as the lunch lady.
Pearlie loved to cook and help people when and where she could. She loved plants, and took care of them like they were her children as well. In August of 2018, she started a hard battle with Kidney failure, where she was only given two months to live, but on September 11, 2018, she started her first dialysis treatment. She walked that road for almost seven years, but she stood on the word of God, that by his stripes she was healed and on July 20, 2025, she was healed on this side, and for three months she was free of dialysis.
SHE HAS BEEN SET FREE!! Proverbs 3: 5-6 was her favorite scripture!!!
Pearlie was proceeded in death by her parents; brothers, Willie, Jr., Charles, James and John Woods.
Pearlie leaves to cherish her loving memories, her son. Andre L. (Melissa) Woods, Sr.; loving daughter, LaQuandra 0. Cochrian; grandchildren, Andre L. Woods, Jr., Sierrah C. Woods, and DeAndre K.
